Paul Hansma, PhD
Chief Scientific Officer, Inventor

Paul Hansma is an author of more than 340 publications, and is inventor of the Reference Point Indenter, the Scanning Ion Conductance Microscope, and the first Atomic Force Microscope for operation in fluid.  He is a fellow of the American Physical Society, the Institute of Physics and the American Association for Advancement of Science.  He was named a Presidential Scholar by President Lyndon Johnson and received the Biological Physics Prize from the American Physical Society in 2000.  He is excited about the possibility of helping people maintain an Active Life through the development and distribution of new technology.

Davis Brimer
Chief Executive Officer, Founder

As a founder and CEO, Davis Brimer was an integral component of guiding Active Life from the concept stage into a reality.  He leads the continuous development of the company and culture around the shared vision of living and prolonging an Active Life.  Mr. Brimer’s technology and business background makes him an integral member of the Active Life team, both as a hands-on tactical leader and a strategic visionary.  He is the recipient of several awards for his entrepreneurial achievements and a co-author of publications related to Active Life’s technologies, including the Reference Point Indentation instrument discovery paper.  Mr. Brimer graduated from the University of California at Santa Barbara College of Engineering and Technology Management Program.

Alex Proctor
Director of Technology, Founder
A Founder and Director of Technology, Alex Proctor graduated from the Department of Physics and the Technology Management Program at the University of California at Santa Barbara. During his time at UCSB Mr. Proctor worked directly with Dr. Paul Hansma on the prototype development of the Reference Point Indentation (RPI) instrument. Mr. Proctor’s broad technical expertise, extensive experience with the early development of the instrument, and his dedication to living and prolonging an Active Life make him a key member of the Active Life team.
